Talking to Children About Brain Tumors

Talking to Children About Brain Tumors

March 14, 2021

Chance Fouts was diagnosed with anaplastic astrocytoma in January of 2018. As he and his family learned what this diagnosis would entail, he and his wife were also trying to explain to their young children what was happening.

Chance and his wife would try to help their kids understand in terms that would make sense to them while still being truthful to the situation. They would also have to remind them at time that Chance couldn’t always be as active as he’d like no matter how much he wanted to be.

Communicating with children while difficult is an important part of including them in the brain tumor journey. Brains for the Cure wants to hear from others in the brain tumor community about how they included their children, no matter their age. Comment below or email [email protected] to share your story.
